About DigiBriefs

Origins

DigiBriefs is an independent publication launched in April 2026 by Boomerang Training.

It evolved from digital literacy workshops facilitated under a federal government contract (SEE program) to increase the literacy of adult First Nations Australians, with a focus on reading and digital skills.

Our problem

This was two-fold:

  1. Mobile devices are the norm. Not print. Not laptops. Over 60% of internet access is via a mobile device.
  2. Traditional training methodologies were not designed with mobile in mind, so they did not address the reality of online text.

What we learned from working with adult participants:

  • Online 'reading' is the norm.
  • Nobody 'reads' online in the traditional sense.
  • The viewer must actively engage with digital text to make sense of it.
  • Much digital text is not designed for online viewing.

Solution

Design differently. Deliver differently.

The Digibriefs publication is part of this evolution.
